HISTORY
Built in 1888, this two-story red brick Victorian commercial style building once housed the general business offices of the second-largest flour-milling operation in California, Sperry & Co., which was founded in Stockton in 1852. An addition to this building, matching the original architecture, was completed in 1917. In the 1860s, Sperry Mills began to produce their famous “drifted snow” flour from locally-raised wheat. Sperry Flour Mills office and the Waterfront Warehouse stand today as reminders that, at one time, Sperry Mills was one of the most successful businesses to ever call Stockton, California, home.
