HISTORY

Cort Tower was built in 1915 by the Commercial & Savings Bank. It’s a fine example of the Beaux-arts renaissance revival style in vogue in the early century. The building was heavily damaged by fire in 1923 and following the repairs was doubled in size along the Sutter Street elevation. It was later owned by Bank of America, the Grupe Company, and of course its namesake, the Cort Companies. The 10th floor of this building features offices that are a step back in time with their beautiful wooden doors and fireplace.
