In December of 2006 the Downtown Stockton Alliance organized a Stockton Team to attend the Responsible Hospitality Institute (RHI) Summit, in Chicago. The Team was comprised of Representatives from the Alliance, City of Stockton Redevelopment, Stockton Police Department, the City Manager's Office and City Councilmember for the District. In April 2007, RHI began a Hospitality Zone Assessment, consisting of a Community Engagement Orientation and a series of four Roundtables, involving more than 70 people representing almost a many organizations or constituency groups. The goal of this process is to plan for the enhancement of the existing economic and social value of the District's dining, entertainment and event activities, while minimizing risks to public safety, and residential quality of life. A report and Action Plan was presented to the City Council in July 2007.
