Downtown is located along the San Joaquin Delta waterway which connects to the San Francisco Bay and the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers. Centrally located, downtown is 42 miles south of Sacramento and 83 miles east of San Francisco. Two of California’s major freeway arteries converge here making downtown a very accessible location.

Downtown Public Safety
Crime has decreased 52 percent in downtown Stockton from 1992 to 2002, since then downtown has experienced an additional 12.3% drop in crime index through 2004.  Thanks to the efforts of the Stockton Police Department patrol and bike officers and mounted horse police.  The Police Department now has 32 surveillance cameras strategically placed in downtown.  The Downtown Stockton Alliance Hospitality Guides keep the streets of downtown safe and friendly and the Maintenance crew partners with the PD on graffiti abatement and trash removal.
